Cynthia started her career by moving from New York and pursuing a job as a fashion model. Cynthia was soon signed to a contract for five years to Wihelmina Models, which led her to an extremely successful debut as the cover for Essence Magazine. Cynthia's Essence cover that was the highest-selling magazine in history was also Susan Taylor's most-loved. Cynthia was able to secure her second cover soon after and set up the scene for a lengthy career. When she moved to Paris, Cynthia strutted down the Paris Fashion Week runways and Milan Fashion Week. Cynthia moved back to New York City after living in the United States for nearly a year. Her campaigns included Maybelline Oil of Olay Macy's. The magazine editorials of Vogue Glamour Elle Essence as well as Vanity Fair followed. Cynthia was selected to be chosen by Naomi Campbell over Naomi Campbell to play opposite Sandra Bernhadt for the film, "Without You, I'm nothing."
